The cashier was a friendly squirrel named Sammy. He had a fluffy tail and was always ready with a smile as he rang up the customers' purchases. Sammy was also in charge of keeping track of all the money and making sure the supermarket's finances were in order.
Next to the cashier was the bakery section, where a busy beaver named Benny worked. Benny was known for his delicious pastries and bread. 有一天，啄木鸟想：“我捉的虫子太多了，吃不完，我何不开一家超市呢。”于是，他立即动手办了一个森林超市，卖的是啄木鸟自己辛辛苦苦捉来的虫子。它还雇了几名员工，自己到外面捉虫子。因为它要的钱不多，而且很诚实，全国各地的鸟儿都来买啄木鸟的虫子。这下，森林超市可出名了，人多的将森里超市围了个水泄不通。没多长时间，啄木鸟就成了森林里最大的富豪。
啄木鸟看着大把的钞票堆满了屋子，开心的合不拢嘴。它想：“我的钱足够多了，是时候该歇歇了。”于是，它把员工解雇了，又把森林超市卖了个好价钱，啄木鸟用自己辛辛苦苦赚来的钱买了一栋大别墅，开始过上了悠闲自得的生活。没过多久没啄木鸟的钱就被花光了。它想再去捉些虫子卖，可是，已经晚了。原来，啄木鸟的嘴已经退化了，捉不动树皮了。啄木鸟被饿的东倒西歪，最后被活活饿死了。
看来，我们不能在富有的时候就骄傲自满，挥霍无度，不然，最后只会落得和啄木鸟一样的下场。

开业的第一天，超市里来了好多客人，啄木鸟累得满头大汗。一会儿给客人找钱，一会儿给客人带路。晚上它拿起计算机开始算了起来，天呐！它没想到今天竟然挣了一千元。到了第二天，啄木鸟说：昨天算账算得太累了，今天就不按时开门了吧。小青蛙、小熊和熊猫来到超市门口，可是超市却没开门。直到有一天，熊猫先生来举报啄木鸟的森林超市不按时开门，工商管理局的老虎局长知道了，它马上来到超市门口说：快开门！啄木鸟说：是谁呀，打扰人家睡觉。老虎局长说：是我，工商管理局局长。啄木鸟一听精神了许多，它赶紧打开门让老虎局长进去。老虎局长找了个地方坐了下来，啄木鸟又是给局长倒水，又是给局长捶背，说：局长你今天怎么来看我家小店了。营业执照拿出来。老虎局长说。啄木鸟没办法，只好乖乖地拿出了营业执照。老虎局长说：你的店被动物们投诉，你的店开不成了。
啄木鸟知道了它不能不按时开门营业，它说：局长，给我一次机会吧。老虎局长同意了，老虎局长走了之后，啄木鸟赶紧把超市的门打开，笑眯眯的迎接顾客。再也不敢偷懒了。就这样啄木鸟的森林超市又变得红火起来了。

有一天刚上一年级的小猪同学逃课到森林超市里打工。因为小猪在森林超市的橱窗里看见了很多饮料但自己的口袋里却没有钱可以支付便想出了一个主意——打工买饮料，小猪同学对员工说：“羊叔叔，我打工。”小羊员工说“好好好，我早就不想在这打工了。”小羊员工把衣服撂给小猪同学。像光一样的跑了。小猪同学飞快穿上衣服开始打工。
小猪同学等呀等呀等了好久都没有人，突然小兔子来了说：“小猪哥哥，给我一瓶5元钱的芒果汁”小猪同学并不知道芒果汁怎么做便给小兔子做了一瓶冰水。小兔子生气了把冰水扔在了地上，拿着钱哭着走了。
突然，小猪的妈妈走过来生气的说：“学习学不好还打工，连芒果汁都不会做，还不回去写作业去。”听了猪妈妈的话小猪努力学习长大成了学霸。

它干了一个星期，觉得森林超市太小了，正在纳闷，小猴子来了，看见了啄木鸟说：“你在为什么事发愁呀！”“这个森林超市太小了。”啄木鸟说。“哦！原来是这样啊！”小猴子说。然后小猴子拿起笔又给画了一张图说：“你看这样行吗？”啄木鸟说：“行，行，就这样定了。”后来小猴子找来小松鼠、小兔子来帮忙。
过了几天，房子就盖好了，啄木鸟又在网上定了很多很多商品。啄木鸟当上了收银员，其它的小猴子、小松鼠、小兔子和小熊猫都是售货员了。
就这样，啄木鸟的森林超市生意红火起来了。成了森林里最大，最好的超市，最后老虎大王知道了这个消息，还为小猴子颁发了好奖杯呢？
